Why does the Catholic version of the Holy Bible have more books than it's Protestant version?
As mentioned above Protestant version of Holy Bible has 66 books and Catholic version has 73 books. Here is how it happened: Books in Bible is based on Canon of scriptures. The Catholic Bible contains all the books that have traditionally been accepted by Christians since the Canon of Scripture was recognized by the Synod of Rome in 382. More synods was conducted in 393, 397, and 419 A.D and all of them affirmed the use of 73 books. The Council of Florence (1442) definitively established the official list of 46 books of the Old Testament and 27 of the New Testament. In 1534, Martin Luther translated the Bible into German. He grouped the seven deuterocanonical books of the Old Testament under the title “Apocrypha,” declaring, “These are books which are not held equal to the Sacred Scriptures and yet are useful and good for reading.”. They were included in most Bibles until 1827. The British and Foreign Bible Society decided in 1827 to remove these books from further publications and labeled these books “apocryphal.” However, many Protestant versions of the Bible today will state, “King James version with Apocrypha.”. Infact It's not 7 extra books in Catholic Bible....the protestant bibles are missing 7.
Holy Bible say's:
My child, pay attention to what I am telling you, listen carefully to my words; do not let them out of your sight, keep them deep in your heart. For they are life to those who find them and health to all humanity. More than all else, keep watch over your heart, since here are the wellsprings of life. The Proverbs 4:20-23
Let's pray:
Dear loving God, I believe that through Holy Bible You speak to me and guide me. Fill Your words in my heart, so that I shall follow your path and be a blessing for every one around me. I ask this through the most holy name of Your Son and Our Saviour Lord Jesus Christ...Amen
