Pope Francis has blessed World through his first Twitter Message
Taking a bold step into the world of 21st century social media, the pontiff issued the much-anticipated first tweet from his personal account Wednesday morning, using the handle @Pontifex -- meaning "bridge builder" in Latin.
He tweeted his first message as:
"Dear friends, I am pleased to get in touch with you through Twitter. Thank you for your generous response. I bless all of you from my heart."
He will be tweeting in English, Spanish, Italian, Arabic , Portugese, German and Polish Languages.
Tweet messages will include Messages for special occassion, Sunday Messages and Church's response to various matters.
Pope Francis has some previous experience at tweeting, having launched the official Vatican news site on Twitter, @news_va_en, in June 2011.
