How to receive Holy Communion?

Right way to receive holy Eucharist

Should Catholics receive communion on the hand or on the tongue?

Catholic Church allows the faithful to receive Holy Eucharist in hand or tongue. We should take proper preparations before the receiving of holy Communion as the focus of Communion is to remember the Lord and thank Him for His sacrifice.

During Eucharistic celebration unleavened bread becomes the body of Christ and non-fermented (unleavened) wine becomes the blood of Christ. This is called Transubstantiation. So before receiving the most holy Eucharist, we should examine our hearts.

1 Corinthians 11:27, 28 says :
Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup.

Transubstantiation is, according to the teaching of the Catholic Church, the change of substance by which the bread and the wine offered in the sacrifice of the sacrament of the Eucharist during the Mass, become, in reality, the body and blood of Jesus.
