Be Careful What You Are Thinking, God Is Listening Mark 2:15-17 When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the "sinners" and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: "Why does he eat with tax collectors and 'sinners'?" (Mark 2:16) Jesus and His disciples were enjoying a delicious meal at Levi's home, when Jesus heard a cruel remark. The so-called religious leaders were asking why He was eating with "sinners". These leaders of the law didn't have enough guts to ask Jesus personally, but geared their question toward the disciples. Jesus did not condone immoral actions, nor did He participate in any of their sinful activity, but He did support them. If people want to change, and have no one to guide them, how will they change? To be religious doesn't mean a person loses compassion for the ungodly, smelly, ignored, or rejected. As God's representatives, we should not turn our back on sinners. I am not advocating to accept a person's lifestyle which is contrary to God's best, but one does not have to shun others who are different, or who are uncomfortable to be around. Without knowing and understand the Truth, these people will never become all God created them to be. Lord, I admit I want to avoid people who are living a sinful life. I don't know how to act around them, or tell them about You. Show me how to handle this fear. Grant me wisdom and protection. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen. How do you show compassion to others?
