Everlasting Life

Hi All,

Last friday not by choice but by situation, we were contemplating on 1 John
5:13-20. The inference's that we got though the context is bit different but
it does makes some sense to a general reader without knowing the context. So
sharing with you all to know if you share the same feeling... below is the
insight:

Well as we sit, decide & ponder on the most important thing that GOD wants
from us its interesting to see how GOD reveals his master plan for the LTP
through the beautiful verses in Johns letter. After going through the
given WOG, its tough to find the link between the immediate call &
responsibility of each & every member at first glance. Even reading it on
numerous occasion doesnt help much, its only when after all the humanly
effort has died down that GOD sets his path as one of the signature of a
famous JY personality says Surrender is not a way of living but the only
way of living. Coming back to the focus of attention the johns letter
verses, we do marvel how meticulously the verses have been woven & the depth
that it carries no human being can measure or even come close to even trying
it. 1 John 5:13 the first verse itself sets the stage of a Catholic
leader/servant or whatever we may call him/her. Its the most important
thing & one of the topmost mystery. If one can fully understand the true
meaning of it, not only understand but put that to practise each & every day
of our life till we live on this earth is more than enough. Lets read it
once again with our inner heart open & in tune with the writer:

*I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so
that you may know that you have eternal life - 1 John 5:13*

Mind blowing! Simply amazing I mean I can never realize & live upto this
statement. The day we do & live upto this statement we would be saints. I
believe forget about the immediate need context, but if for the rest of the
life if we can orient our lives towards this statement that would be great.
The word that touches us & carries the most important call for each one of
us is a simple realization of a golden fact that Peter is letting John know
and the very basic fact of a true believer is that *.... you have eternal
life *isnt this statement ecstatic, an out of the world type statement, a
verse that takes you out of the world. I mean when was the last time my
actions & words were in tune with this very promise or fact that we all
should be living with. When did the last time I did something knowing the
fact that *I have an eternal life When* did the words that I spoke was
minutely & very finely measured by myself because I have an eternal life.
Did I directed my words to reflect that... was my actions a shadow of
someone who has an eternal life. Ok, lets put it in this way does the term
Eternal life for yourself mesmerize you? If it does, nothing in the world
can interest you more. I mean if we live & abide by this fact that we have
an eternal life nothing in this world can hold us back no selfish thoughts
would ever dare to come near us leave alone to be practised in our life. No
worldly interest would ignite us much? Giving would become a deeper &
integral part of our living than receiving. Others will occupy & become our
prime focus in our life than any our needs. Sacrifices would be ever the
more cheerful, hatred & rejections would be something that we would be happy
to receive. Humbleness, politeness, joyfulness, lovingness, cheerfulness,
prayerfulness would become our primary tools. Giving up something for the
sake of other would become easy for us All these things only because of
one fact and that is the believe that we have an eternal life. Please its
important to understand that there is difference in saying that If we do
all these things we would have eternal life thats not our call or believe
but its the other way round. When we know & believe that we have an eternal
life in-store or in place for us all the above things would come
automatically, its not the vice versa.

Ok guys lets move on to the MAP laid out by HIM in the following verses -
1 John 5: 14

*This is the confidence we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything
according to his will, he hears us. *

Peter says, boy if you guys have this Eternal life thing confidence filled
in your heart then boy you had it all we would definitely have a special
confidence in our asking because its pretty very well tuned with Gods will
& HE promises that HE would hear all of it. The question that arises is what
to ask for you better be bang on point & ask something really meaningful
because....

*And if we know that he hears us whatever we ask we know that we have
what we asked of him. *-* *1 John 5: 15**

Now that we know that it is of great importance that we ask something
meaningful! , maybe something about my job, something about my life,
something about studies or something else? Lets follow the map to see
whats in the next two verses...

*If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that does not lead to death, he
should pray and God will give him life. I refer to those whose sin does not
lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death. I am not saying that he
should pray about that.*

*All wrongdoing is sin, and there is sin that does not lead to death. - *1
John 5: 16-17**

Peter says guys definitely something else & more important dear *Ask/Pray
for others! *Nothing more nothing less.* *The final verses of the messages
seals it all**

*We know that anyone born of God does not continue to sin; the one who
was born of God keeps him safe, and the evil one cannot harm him. *

* 19 We know that we are children of God, and that the whole world is
under the control of the evil one. *

* 20 We know also that the Son of God has come and has given us
understanding, so that we may know him who is true. And we are in him who is
true even in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.*

Pretty straight forward in asking each one of us to keep ourselves safe,
reminding us that we all are children of God & the fact that this
understanding that we poses is also a gift that has come from Son of God who
is true & have revealed to us that HE is the true God and most importantly
THE Eternal life. Does it ring bells?
