The Heavenly Presenceby Reinhard Bonnke

Jesus, Himself (Part 8 of 8) The Heavenly Presence

The Gentiles had little idea of God at all. They thought there was some unknown cloud of power, but without feelings, ineffable and changeless. This "something" was so pure it could have nothing to do with mortal flesh, or with the material world. It was passionless and unreachable. But, the Son of God took upon Himself mortal flesh and arrived among people being fully God, embracing even the lepers. We see God as He really always was from all eternity; full of pity, love and power. When the trembling hand of a little outcast woman reached Him, the truth flashed out that would change the world. God is Love.

When one considers the story of the woman with the issue of blood, the most outstanding truth is not the miracle, but that He wanted to meet her, to focus the extent of His Deity upon her, an unwanted scrap of broken humanity. The Prince of Glory was anxious to talk to one forgotten soul.

When we talk about the presence of God, we mean the presence of God with us, not just His Presence filling Heaven. His Presence is Heaven. He brings Heaven into the lives of the little people. CfaN holds Gospel campaigns in some of the poorest countries on earth where some people may own nothing, perhaps only a blanket. The crowd may be a hundred thousand or more of the poorest of the poor, but God again and again comes upon them with extraordinary blessings. He has a special interest and concern for every individual to take them up and make their lives meaningful. It isn’t much thought about, but Jesus said, "The poor have the Gospel preached unto them."

Whether it is a sick woman, or a masterly Paul, an Augustine, Luther, a King, or a peasant, this Christian business is simply the presence of Jesus coming upon individuals in His saving fullness.

Oh! It is Jesus! Yes it is Jesus.
Oh! It is Jesus in my soul.
For I have touched the hem of His garment
And His love has made me whole.

The greatest of all events is the Second Advent of Christ. The Bible word is parousia, the Greek word for Presence. He will be here, and that is all the world will need. The nations and their leaders can relax.

What He will actually do and how, the Bible doesn’t really say. The effect of the Living Christ here on earth will make things right. Somehow wars and oppressions and inequalities will die out, with international peace and universal happiness bringing the weary earth relief and gladness. "In Thy presence is fullness of joy." It won’t be by some super-political scheme, or master plan, but His presence will fill the whole earth.

Then "every knee shall bow and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord."

BLESSED BE THE ONE WHO COMES IN THE NAME OF THE LORD
